Industrial Pipe Elbows – Brandfittings Manufacturer
Brandfittings manufactures a full range of butt weld elbows in carbon steel (ASTM A234 WPB), stainless steel (ASTM A403 WP304/304L, WP316/316L), alloy steel (WP5, WP9, WP11, WP22, WP91) and low-temperature steel (A420 WPL6). Every elbow is produced to ASME B16.9 and MSS-SP-75, with mill test certificates (MTC EN 10204 3.1) and full heat-number traceability on every order. As a factory in Mengcun County, Hebei — China's Pipe Fittings Capital — we supply elbows from 1/2″ to 48″ (DN15–DN1200) to buyers in 10+ countries, at factory-direct prices.
Whether you are building a high-pressure oil & gas pipeline, a chemical process line, or a marine piping system, the right elbow geometry and material directly affect flow efficiency, pressure loss and service life. This page covers elbow types, dimensions, material selection, quality control and lead times — so you can specify exactly what your project needs.
Types of Butt Weld Elbows
We supply four standard configurations, in both long radius (LR) and short radius (SR) versions:
- 45° Long Radius Elbow — the standard choice for gentle directional change with minimal pressure drop.
- 90° Long Radius Elbow — the most widely used fitting in industrial piping; centerline radius equals 1.5× the nominal diameter (1.5D).
- 90° Short Radius Elbow — centerline radius equals 1.0× the nominal diameter (1D); used where space is tight and higher pressure drop is acceptable.
- 180° Return Elbow — for reversing flow direction, in long radius (1.5D) or short radius (1D) as required.
Long radius elbows reduce friction loss and erosion, making them the default for most process and utility lines. Short radius elbows save space in pump rooms, skids and compact assemblies. Non-standard angles (e.g. 60°, 100°, 120°) and custom radii are available on request.

Available Materials
| Material Grade | Standard | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|
| A234 WPB | ASTM | General carbon steel piping |
| A403 WP304/304L | ASTM | Corrosion-resistant, food grade |
| A403 WP316/316L | ASTM | Marine, chemical, high corrosion |
| A420 WPL6 | ASTM | Low temperature service |
| A234 WP5 / WP9 / WP11 / WP22 / WP91 | ASTM | High temperature / alloy |
Material choice drives both cost and service life. Carbon steel A234 WPB covers most ambient-temperature utility and structural lines. Stainless 304/304L suits food, pharmaceutical and mildly corrosive media; 316/316L adds molybdenum for chlorides, seawater and chemical duty. For sour gas, high-temperature steam or cryogenic service, we recommend alloy grades (WP11/WP22/WP91) or low-temperature WPL6 — our engineers will confirm the right grade from your operating conditions. See our carbon steel vs stainless steel buying guide for a full comparison.

Manufacturing & Quality Control
Every Brandfittings elbow is manufactured from certified raw material with full traceability. Carbon and alloy elbows are hot-formed and heat-treated (normalizing or quench & temper as required); stainless steel elbows are solution-annealed to restore corrosion resistance after forming. Dimensional inspection is performed on 100% of production against ASME B16.9 tolerances — wall thickness, end diameter, center-to-end and out-of-roundness are all verified.
Each batch carries heat numbers stamped on the fitting and mirrored on the MTC (EN 10204 3.1). Third-party inspection by SGS, BV or TÜV can be arranged before shipment, and our facility holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, CCS ship-class and TS special-equipment certifications. Frequently Asked Questions
What standards do your butt weld elbows comply with?
All our elbows are manufactured to ASME B16.9, with MSS-SP-75, JIS B2311, GOST 17375 and GB/T 12459 also available. Every order ships with a mill test certificate (MTC EN 10204 3.1).
What is the difference between long radius and short radius elbows?
Long radius (LR) elbows have a centerline radius of 1.5× the nominal diameter, which means lower friction loss and less erosion — the standard choice for most pipelines. Short radius (SR) elbows use 1.0× diameter, saving space in compact layouts at the cost of higher pressure drop.
What size range and wall thickness do you supply?
We supply butt weld elbows from 1/2″ to 48″ (DN15–DN1200) in wall thicknesses from SCH 5S to SCH XXS. Sizes above 48″ and special wall thicknesses can be manufactured on request.
Do you provide material certificates?
Yes. Every order includes an MTC per EN 10204 3.1 with full heat-number traceability. Third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TÜV) can be arranged at the buyer's request.
What are your lead times?
Standard sizes in stock ship in 7–10 days. Production orders take 30–45 days, and custom or non-standard items 45–60 days, depending on size, material and quantity.
Can you manufacture non-standard elbows?
Yes — custom angles (60°, 100°, 120°), custom radii, heavier wall thicknesses, special surface treatments and custom marking are all available. Send your drawing or specification to our engineering team for a quotation.
